SMILE
Hello from your Image Jockey eNGee!
Coming out next from the IMAGE box is…….SMILE J
Did the word itself bring a smile on your face? Am glad it did.
The dictionary meaning of the word smile is – ‘a pleased, kind, or amused facial expression, typically with the corners of the mouth turned up and the front teeth exposed.’
Most of you’ll just tried smiling just to check if the corners of your mouth turned up and whether your front teeth were exposed ;) Those who didn’t are trying now :P
And if it didn’t happen that way, then trust me that you are not smiling to your heart’s content. If your front teeth weren’t exposed to some extent, then you aren’t smiling. So smile the way the meaning describes the said word. In today’s day to day fast life, we don’t even smile at our family members at home; forget smiling at our neighbours, colleagues, peers or even ourselves.
The meaning of smile in itself has so many positive words- pleased, kind, amused and up. And you can’t miss the words ‘facial expression’. They are directly related to your face, your image. Such a simple and positive expression that can do wonders in building your body image as well as self- image.
People tend to look at our face first and vice versa. So a smiling face is the first step in creating a positive first impression. It’s a kind gesture which automatically pleases the opposite person giving further opportunities to a positive talk/conversation between the people who have met and helps in breaking the ice.
Once you realize that the opposite person feels positive and is comfortable in talking to you, it automatically elevates your self-confidence and you are in a better position to continue your conversation positively. The chances of the opposite person or people remembering you are a friendly & charming personality go up to a larger extent. They will love to keep in touch with you always and will acknowledge you whenever and wherever they see or meet you. Your stand and value amongst people and in public increases positively and you will be highly recommended to others at the right time and for the right professional/personal opportunities.
So we need to smile always,
- look in the mirror and start your day with a smile to yourself
- wake your dear ones in the morning with a smile
- smile at your neighbours, peers and colleagues with a smile whenever you see or meet them during the day
- smile and greet everyone whom you are meeting for the first time
Like they say, a smile is contagious; it can only spread happiness and love amongst our near and dear ones and positive vibes amongst the new people that we meet.
A positive impact will definitely leave a positive impression in front of others making them feel confident about you which in return will boost your own self-esteem and confidence. This will further provide you with more and better opportunities to grow personally as well as professionally.
